More Than Wallpaper: Creative Ways to Use Wall Murals
When most people think of wallpaper, they think walls.
But one of the biggest advantages of peel and stick wall murals and wallpaper is that they donât have to stay there.
At Urbanwalls, we love seeing our designs used in unexpected ways, and one of our favorite projects brought that idea to life in a completely different setting: a wedding.
A Floral Wall Mural Used in a Wedding Design
This styled shoot, featured in Real Weddings, transformed our Primrose design into something far beyond traditional wall decor.
Instead of installing it on a wall, the design was used:
- As a statement backdrop behind a stylized bar
- As a completely original aisle runner
The result was soft, romantic, and completely unique.
This is where floral wall murals and wallpaper start to feel more like design tools than just decor.

Why Peel and Stick Wall Murals Work for Events
Traditional materials can be limiting when designing for events.
With peel and stick wall murals, you get:
- Easy installation and removal
- No damage to floors, walls, or surfaces
- Flexibility for temporary setups
- A high-end look without custom fabrication
This makes them ideal not just for homes, but for:
- Weddings
- Event backdrops
- Retail installations
- Photoshoots

Wallpaper vs Wall Mural: Whatâs the Difference?
If youâre deciding between wallpaper and a wall mural, it comes down to how you want the design to appear.
- Wallpaper (like our Primrose Wallpaper) repeats in a pattern and is ideal for full-room coverage or consistent designs
- Wall murals (like our Primrose Wall Mural) create a larger-scale, more organic scene across the wall
For this project, the flexibility of the design allowed it to work beautifully in both formats.

The Primrose Design: A Soft, Floral Statement
The Primrose design features cascading, hand-painted florals in soft neutrals with hints of blush and green.
The delicate linework keeps the look light and airy, while still adding enough detail to feel elevated and intentional.
As Real Weddings described it:
âThe clean line drawings help to maintain a dainty look throughout the design, while also feeling modern and minimalist.â
Itâs a perfect example of how a floral wall mural can feel both classic and contemporary at the same time.
See It in Your Own Space
While this project was created for an event, the same design works beautifully in everyday spaces.
