If I’m being honest, I never expected this to happen on our very first visit.
We arrived at Greencrest with every intention of listening, observing, and learning. This trip was meant to be a giant this or that. A chance to understand Jenn’s style, her instincts, and how she connects emotionally to each space. I truly believed decisions would come later.
But the Garden Room had other plans.

Walking Into the Garden Room
We were standing in the Garden Room when Jenn started to share why it mattered so much to her.
She described how, on wedding mornings, she’ll often find the father of the bride sitting quietly in that room, rehearsing his speech. It’s calm. It’s full of light. It’s a space where people pause before one of the biggest moments of their lives.
The sunlight pours in through the windows. It feels uplifting the moment you walk in.
When Jenn first took over Greencrest, this room was painted a sage green. At the time, she made the decision to spray it white to brighten it up and let the light do its thing. Today, it’s styled simply with greenery, ferns, a rubber plant, a brown leather sofa, and a few rattan chairs. It’s beautiful already, but it also felt like it was waiting for something.
Not louder. Just richer.

Treating the First Visit as Exploration
We brought dozens and dozens of wallpaper samples with us.
Different scales. Different florals. Different moods. Some leaned dark academia, others felt shabby chic. We had Parisian cottage styles, classic florals, and softer, collected patterns. The goal wasn’t to choose, it was to observe.
What made Jenn pause?
What sparked a reaction?
What felt wrong immediately?
We wanted to understand her design language before we ever tried to speak it.

The Moment Everything Clicked
Then it happened.
One sample came out, and Jenn’s entire energy shifted. There was no debating. No overthinking. Just joy.
The design was a floral that immediately felt familiar to her. It had a soft blue background that tied back to Greencrest’s branding. Birds that mirrored the life outside the windows. Florals that echoed her gardens. Small hints of yellow and rust that already existed in the room through pillows and accessories.
What made it special wasn’t just the pattern. It was that nothing else in the room had to change.
The couch stayed.
The pillows stayed.
The plants stayed.
The wallpaper didn’t demand a redesign. It simply completed the room.

Designing for All Seasons
One of the reasons this design felt like such a clear yes was its ability to move through every season.
It felt warm enough for fall. Light enough for spring. Alive in summer. Cozy in winter. It didn’t lock the room into a single moment of the year, which mattered deeply for a space that’s used year-round.
This is exactly what we mean when we talk about designing with intention. Wallpaper should work with a space, not force it into something it’s not.

Why Peel and Stick Was the Right Choice
For the Garden Room, we chose peel and stick wallpaper.
The walls were smooth, the light was ideal, and it allowed for flexibility while still delivering a high-end, finished look. It made sense for how the room is used and how it needs to function during wedding season.
It was a practical choice that didn’t compromise beauty.

Why This One Decision Mattered So Much
Walking away from our very first visit with a design already chosen felt like a gift.
There was no pressure to decide that day. None at all. But that single yes gave us clarity. It helped define what Jenn was drawn to, how she thought about space, and what mattered most to her visually and emotionally.
We paid close attention to why she loved it. The negative space. The flow. The balance. The specific types of florals. All of that became guidance for the rest of the collection.

Letting the First Yes Guide the Rest
That first decision didn’t just give us a wallpaper for the Garden Room. It gave us confidence.
It told us we were listening well.
It told us we were aligned.
It told us we were on the right path.
As we moved forward into the design phase and prepared for our second visit, this wallpaper became a touchstone. A reminder that when design feels right, it doesn’t need convincing.
Sometimes, the first yes is all you need to move forward.
And for us, it set the tone for everything that followed in the Greencrest Collection.
