We’re so excited to share our latest collection featuring the one and only, Tahnee Kelland! We've been huge fans of her art for years and we have been counting down the days until we could share it with all of you.
Tahnee's wall decor line is perfect for transforming your space into a dreamy oasis. With three arch wall decals and a magical mural option, there’s something in this collection for everyone. All pieces make any room feel more inviting, enchanting, and vibrant.
We asked Tahnee a few questions about her art, her process, and where she gathers inspiration from:
Q: In one sentence, how would you describe your business?
A: Adapting
Q: In three words, how would you describe yourself?
A: Big picture type person (sorry that was 4)
Q: In one word, how would you describe your personal design style?
A: Evolving
Q: How do you find inspiration for new ideas, trends, and styles?
A: I can usually only find inspiration when I’m lost in thought. I don’t have those luxuries with spare time anymore but I find if I’m driving or in the shower a concept, I want to explore comes to me without trying because I’m in more of a flow state. The ideas and concepts that come to me are usually based on a feeling or period of life I’ve experienced. I like to document it as a time capsule for my future old lady self to look back on.Other times ideas particularly colour palettes come from completely obscure places whilst out and about, I take a lot of photos of random things because sometimes I’ll just see a colour combination in something that make my heart smile. The trick is remembering I took the photo to refer back to, sometimes they make it to canvas sometimes they are lost in the camera roll forever.
Q: What is your favourite personal or household item to splurge on?
A: A mattress! Sleep is life… if you can get it.
Q: If you could change it in the blink of an eye, what crazy colour would you paint your walls?
A: I’m not too adventurous on crazy colours but I have been looking at micro cement wall finishes lately and I’d love to have a space that’s all micro cement in a creamy clay colour. I'm also about to renovate my sons room so we are also looking at some wallpaper options above a nib wall.
Q: Describe what motivated and inspired you to embark on this path.
A: I was made redundant from a retail position I was in. I didn’t feel like I wanted to go back into retail and didn’t have much else experience so I thought why not give it a crack.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your brand or artist journey?
A: Being able to make an income from something I’d be doing for fun anyway feels like winning life’s lottery.
Q: Describe what it means to you to be on this path, and how have you grown since starting out.
A: It means a lot to me , a lot of my identity is wrapped up in my work. I’d have such a different reality if I didn’t have my creativity. I’m so thankful that I do. I’ve changed a lot since starting out 7 years ago. Things were very fast past for the first few years. Since becoming a mother I’ve slowed down a lot and just find little pockets of time to create when I can. I’ve put motherhood before my business for this period of life and it’s been interesting to watch how the slower pace affects my process. I’m quite enjoying it unfold organically in its own time rather then the hustle of the earlier days.
